About Us

F & F Screw Machine Products was first established in 1959 by Elmer Fisher and his son Frank Fisher (Fisher & Fisher). Originally, almost all of the work that was done at F & F was for the band instrument companies. Being a machine shop in the heart of Elkhart during the early 60's, F & F became known for being able to supply quality parts at affordable prices, but more widely known for their ability to help with engineering and design changes, a practice that has been continued at F & F since it's conception.

Frank Fisher took over the business from his father and continued to supply parts to the growing band companies while also taking on new work from the mobile home industry that was booming at that time. During this time, F & F was a small three-room building and three employees. Another addition was built in 1975 doubling the size of the shop to 3600 sq. ft. and Frank already needed to hire more people.

Blake Slack began working at F & F part-time in 1970. After working with Frank for only two years, Blake began purchasing the company in 1972. In 1983 another addition was built, adding 1800 sq. feet to the company. In 1986, Frank retired and Blake continued building on what Frank and Elmer had already started. Blake's strong mechanical skills kept the machines in great working condition, while his exceptional people skills brought in more and more customers. More machines were purchased, more people were hired, F & F was growing.

Roger Duffy started working at F & F in 1986, shortly before Frank retired. Roger had known Blake for many years before coming to work for him. It did not take long for Roger to master the art of setting and running the machines. He became pretty much second in command, running the shop as foreman and then shortly thereafter, a percentage owner in the company. Roger helped to organize the shop and find room to squeeze in more machines. F & F just kept growing. Blake and Roger's friendship and support of each other helped F & F to grow so quickly, that in 1996, plans were in the works for a new building.

Groundbreaking began at the new building site in May of 1996. F & F would be moving to a new building that was almost four times as large in square footage, from 5400 sq. ft. to 20,000 sq. ft. As it looked, the building would be finished by early November. The move officially started on Friday November 12th, and production resumed in the new building on the following Monday.

After moving to the new site, the amount of automatic screw machines more than doubled. Employee count shot up to 40 full time employees. It is also the first year that F & F purchased a CNC machine. A Tsugami Swiss style CNC BS, magazine loading, 8 axis with power milling and drilling capabilities. This was the first of many yet to come.

At present, F & F has 60 Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines with capacity from 1/16" up to 2-3/8" bar stock, eleven of which have Servo-Cam CNC conversions. We now have 6 CNC Swiss machines all with magazine barfeed ranging from 7MM(.275") to 32MM (1.250"), 3 CNC Two Axis or Slant Bed Lathes, 4 CNC Vertical Milling Centers, 1 Charmilles Wire EDM, and plans to add more new machines yet this year.

With our machinery and experienced staff, we can engineer, design, make tooling, process and deliver a finished product that is competitive with other companies. We are more than willing to take on new challenges and will expand our capacities as needed to fulfill our customer's requirements. We are currently undergoing ISO compliance procedures.
